Silica Gel. 2024. Digital Media. Reasoning: The artwork chosen for this exploration is the cover for the album Power Andre 99 by the band Silica Gel. I selected this piece because of its intricate biomechanical aesthetic and deconstructed visual style. It features a fascinating juxtaposition between organic elements (brain matter, internal organs) and rigid industrial components (cables, skeletal frameworks). The complexity of the "visual noise" within the piece provides a perfect case study for how a designer can maintain order within chaos. I was particularly drawn to the cyberpunk undertones and the way the artwork explores the intersection of human consciousness and technology. The objective of this task was to transform an initial sketch into a refined artwork through a process of visual development, experimentation, and application of relevant design principles. The final outcome needed to reflect clear decision-making in composition, form, and colour, while retaining inspiration from the original artwork studied in Task 1 (Silica Gel – Power Andre 99 ). The final design must be submitted in A4, JPEG, 300 dpi, and labelled following the module’s naming format.
