Project 4 - Self Titled

Idea Development

Idea development part, I wrote a Biography. Then I also wrote statement about my work. I wanted to make a double exposure effect to my poster. This is part of the idea development for this project.

Research Part
Then I moved on to research part and started to look for reference that goes well with my biography and statement. I found many interesting digital photo in this research. Below is my research board.

After the research, I began to look for my pictures that I could use in this project.

After gathering my own photos, I began to do rough sketches to get the first idea how i am going to create this.

After the sketch is done, I moved on to digital part with Adobe Phtoshop.

First, I had to stretch the top part (sky) to make space for other elements to go in.

Second I cropped out myself from other photo and inserted in here and blend it so the photo will not look off

I added some clouds

Added whale

Added another picture of mine and placed it in the center and also blended and erased some part to make it look natural

This is The final video.

Reflection

This project allowed me to explore animation by combining Photoshop and After Effects. I started with Photoshop to design and animate the base movements, ensuring the visuals were cohesive and engaging. Afterward, I transitioned to After Effects to enhance motion and synchronize the animation with sound, adding depth and immersion.

While the process was rewarding, I faced challenges with After Effects, as the software is still new to me. Navigating its features felt difficult at times, and we didn’t explore it deeply in class. This experience made me realize its potential, and I’m eager to learn it more professionally to enhance my motion design skills.

Overall, this project taught me the importance of planning and adaptability while pushing me to experiment with new tools. Combining visuals, motion, and sound created a more compelling narrative, a skill I look forward to refining further.
