Proposal
Reflection
In Project 1 of the Interactive Design module, I was tasked with evaluating an existing website and preparing a comprehensive redesign proposal. I selected The Chicken Rice Shop website as my subject, primarily because I observed that the site had usability issues, lacked visual appeal, and didn’t effectively represent the brand’s identity. This project allowed me to explore user experience evaluation, design research, and proposal development.
The first step in my process was critically analyzing the original website. I assessed various elements such as layout structure, typography, color usage, responsiveness, and navigation flow. I identified several issues, including outdated visual design, inconsistent alignment, lack of hierarchy, and poor mobile optimization. These findings shaped my proposal’s direction.
After analyzing the current site, I began outlining the goals for my redesign. My primary aim was to modernize the visual design while improving the usability of the site. I wanted to create a layout that was clean, visually balanced, easy to navigate, and mobile-responsive. I also proposed integrating visual branding elements like red color tones and consistent typography that would better reflect the restaurant's local and traditional identity.
Through this project, I gained valuable experience in website evaluation and UX planning. It was the first time I formally wrote a design proposal based on UX critiques, and I learned how to support my ideas with both visual references and usability goals. I also realized the importance of balancing creativity with structure in digital design planning.
If I were to revisit this proposal in the future, I would conduct more detailed user testing and competitor analysis to make the design even more user-focused. I would also try to gather real user feedback or surveys to validate my assumptions. This was my first exposure to developing a UX/UI design proposal, and I believe it built a solid foundation for the projects that followed.
